HOUSE TOUR: Contemporary Luxe
Welcome to the luxe life. Our latest custom build is a contemporary design with a high spec, luxury finish, while still maintaining a level of comfort and practicality for everyday living.
This home was custom designed for our clients, a busy family with teenaged children. The brief was for a contemporary family home, with connected indoor/outdoor spaces, and plenty of room for entertaining. The design is a "contemporary Australian" style, with a classic pitched tin roof, white weatherboard cladding and symmetrical windows. We've brought in luxury, contemporary elements with the grey polished plaster feature wall, full height glazing, and feature detailed render panels. The oversized solid black pivot door makes a statement entry.
"The street has a lot of character houses, traditional California bungalows that are well maintained and presented. While the clients favoured a contemporary look, it was important to both us and our clients to not design something ultra-modern that would stick out in the street and date quickly." Mark Stratfold, Riverstone Owner/Director.
The open-plan kitchen / living / dining, overlooking the spectacular luxury pool, is the hero of the house. The kitchen is sleek and white, with a combination of 2-pac lacquered cabinetry and polytec profile fronts for texture, and accents of black in the appliances, tapware and handles. A feature timber barn door conceals the scullery, with a second sink, lots of storage, and open shelves.
The custom made concrete pool is placed right up against the house, to optimise backyard space. Custom made commercial glazed window and door frames open up to the alfresco area, which has a built-in kitchen, fireplace, TV and motorized roller shade blinds that can be drawn down to fully enclose the space and protect from wind and bugs.
"Creating the recessed motorized blinds was a challenge, we'd never done them this way before. It took some problem solving from our Drafting team to make the blinds disappear into the roof space seamlessly."
Adjacent to the pool is a cabana / pool house, which was designed as a teenagers' retreat - a seperated space on the property to hang out with friends, play video games, watch netflix!
Also on the ground floor is the master suite, as well as a Study and TV/Library room, providing flexibility and options on this floor. Upstairs are minor bedrooms, plus a guest suite and activity room, which creates good zoning and separation between adults and kids spaces.
We worked closely with the client on the interior design and finishes to bring their vision for their new home to life. The level of finish throughout is a standout feature, products and design elements were researched and sourced from all over Australia and internationally.
"The main floor covering is particularly impressive - a 1000 x 3000mm rectified tile was used, and Riverstone's tiler did an amazing job getting the lines and joins perfectly aligned."
For the for bedrooms, library, tv room and bedrooms, we used engineered French Oak timber boards.
The contemporary interior scheme is continued throughout, using predominately white with accents of black and light oak timber, and some charcoal grey feature elements such as polished plaster.
