Design of the Month: Home amongst the trees
Today's design is a contemporary family home, nestled into the foothills of the Darling Scarp in Perth's hills.
It is two-storey design, with the undercroft level housing a garage, store, home theatre, guest bedroom and ensuite. On the main level is a spacious family home with the master suite and children's wing seperated by the kitchen, living spaces and playroom. A verandah and balconies wrap around the front and side of the house to take in the beautiful bush surrounds.
The site came with strict Design Guidelines, which aim to reflect the rural charm and high landscape value defined by its unique Darling Range setting. The guidelines want conemporary homes reintepretated from rural architecture, with bushland colours and materials used.
Incorporating the guidelines, we created variation on the exterior elevation with a mix of materials, a stone-clad feature wall. and wrap around balconies. All the materials and colour selections will be keeping with the "bush land colours" guidelines.
This will be a beautiful, comfortable family home in a unique, rural setting.
